How did you play tonight ?

Havent seen any footage of the match against Benfica..How did you play tonight ? I know the score was 0 - 0...

Celtic played quite well tonight...A lot of people though that we would get beaten easily by Man U but they didnt have it that easy..The penalty in my opinion was not and the referee made a few silly decisions against us but hey...thats football I suppose...

Benfica came with the ambition go get at least a draw, so their tactics was much about closing down FCK's attacking opportunities, in which they succeeded. FCK had a good spell for about the first 30 minutes of the first half, but after Gronkjaer had to limp off the pitch with a groin injury, the play got a little bit more static.

The lone frontman, Berglund, didn't have it easy against the Benfica defense, but in the other end Nuno Gomes and Nuno Assis didn't do much damage either. Benfica came closest to winning by hitting the post late in the second half, but all in all it was a match without any major chances, and the 0-0 draw was a fair result.

We played out a bore draw. 10 attempts on goal for us, 2 on target. Most were long-range hit-and-hope efforts. Neither team really tried to win it - Benfica were obviously content to get a point, wasting a lot of time during the final 15 minutes.

Not to mention Gravesen, our Danish undercover agent, completely undoing your fine start to the game. Here's hoping he'll be as generous in two weeks' time :-).

ahh wasn't on SD for a few weeks - and see, there's a ''European Forum'' now. Nice :). I have only read a few views of the match on e.g. uefa.com, does someone have any highlights of the match and could it put on youtube?? :)

Gravesen was terrible..He gave away too many balls..two of them being right infront of the goals and allowed Man U to score on both occasions...If he keeps that up, he can take a walk as far as Im concerned..I was not to happy with his signing to tell you the truth..I didnt like him when he played for Real Madrid (my other team) and although I think he may do well in the Scottish league (SPL) , I dont think he will do too much for us in Europe...I hope however, that he proves me wrong !!!!

He played terribly off-position in Madrid, and you can in no way use that against him. You need to watch some of his stuff he did for Denmark if you're that off on him. I'm not gonna try to describe his personal abilities, but I dont think he will flop the way he did in Spain. He's a team player and he needs his teammates to succeed. He's in no way a oneman army, like he is often described in recent times in and around the transfer chitter chat.

What is his normal position then ? I honestly think that Gravesen is past his best. I thought he played very well in Everton and to be honest I dont remember having seen him play for his country so I cant comment there...At least today he has come us publicly and said that he was quite to blame for last nights result...at least he can admit to having a bad game, I´ll give him that..I dont think he will " flop" either and havent said that ..I just dont think he is the player hyped up to be..He needs his team mates to succeed you say...Last night they certainly did (apart from Telfer who needs shot but thats another story)... Unfortunately Gravesen last night let his team down...but hey , its early days yet and he still has to settle in so hopefully it will be ok...He has certainly not been written off by us under any circumstances...we are very hard on our players when they dont perfom, we always have been...but we love them to bits when they do well !!!!

At Everton he played with Lee Carsley on the center midfield. Gravesen was the most attacking player of those 2.
In Madrid he was told to play much more defensive. He should get the ball, and then pass it to Zidane. Nothing fancy, like long passes or shots on goal, wich is some of his best abbilities.
At the national team he played a little bit more defensive than in Everton. But not nearly as defensive as in Madrid.

I think Gordon S. sees a bit of himself in Gravsen, the fight, the fury and the nasty .... techinically, i don't think Gravsen has it, but he is a bit scary to come up and fight against. Who else is left at Celtic? no thompson, no petrov .... well, gravsen might be the last solution to the midfield.
